DIY washi tape phone cases

hello everyone! my name is Rafaela and i’m the person behind @raffie_journal instagram account. i’m very happy and honoured to write this article for takkti’s blog and give you some inspiration!

so, we all have these plain clear phone cases which get dirty as the time goes by, right? of course, you don’t want to throw them away so they remain in your closet unused. i have the solution to this problem and i promise that your phone case will look amazing and brand new!

all you need is: (figure 1)

• clear phone case
• nature washi tape bundle by takkti
• scissors
• exacto knife
• clear nail polish
• small paint brush (optional).

firstly, you have to decide which washi tapes you're going to use for your case: i chose the moody landscape washi tape and the thin green and orange ones! (figure 2)

now, you have to cover the entire back of the case with washi tape. start layering the washi, trying to match the previous stripe’s angle with every new one (figure 3,4). 

then, with an exacto knife trim off the excess tape around the camera holes and any other openings. (figure 5,6,7). 

you can put the washi tape pieces straight or crooked. choose your favorite design and color combination, it’s up to your preference and aesthetic!

with the scissors, cut the excess washi tape with patience and love so it will be perfectly aligned and beautiful (figure 8,9,10).

the next step is optional because we all know how sticky and high quality  takkti’s washi tapes are. although, for extra security and stability you can apply to your case a thin coat of clear nail polish. this way, you will protect your case from dirt and it will last longer. you can apply the nail polish with its regular brush or with a paint brush for easier application and control of the amount (figure 11,12,13).

let your case over 3 hours to dry completely. and tadaaa… new fancy phone case with your favorite washi tape takkti patterns! (figure 14).
